Michel owns and has been operating Les Vergers Villeneuve and Blueberry Farm since 1999. Michel is also has a fruit wine licensee and is producing 10 varieties of fruit wines available for tasting and purchase at his farm Wine Boutique.

Michel, who has a Bachelor of Science in Electronic Engineering, worked at Transport Canada for 33 years in Economic Analysis as a data and forecasts specialist including an informatics specialist position for several years and his now retired.

Michel is a member of many associations: OFA, Boisé Est, MyPick, Ottawa Farmers’ Market and he is a director on the board of Tourisme Prescott Russell Tourism (TPRT) and the Board of Prescott-Russell Recreational Trail’s Corporation.

Kathy is an Economic Development Officer for RDEE Ontario. She is a founding member of a number of organizations including: the first Franco-Ontarian Rural Family Home, the first outside Québec and; the Eastern Ontario Agri-food Network.

Kathy serves on the Board of Directors of the Fondation du Collège d’Alfred and the Maison familiale rurale franco-ontarienne.

In her spare time, Kathy enjoys gardening, playing squash and coaching soccer. She lives on 15 acres of land with her husband Marc and their sons Nikolas (11) and Zakary (9).

Healthy Eating for Better Learning

Jennifer is the Student Nutrition Program Manager for the Upper Canada Leger Center (UCLC). As Manager, she is responsible for implementing school breakfast and snack programs and encouraging healthy lifestyles within 8 counties, including Prescott Russell, SDG, Leeds/Grenville as well as Renfrew County. These programs are available to all students, regardless of socio-economic status.

Jennifer’s previous work with other community-based organizations has given her the experience to know and recognized the distinct needs of the surrounding communities. She is passionate about promoting healthy lifestyles and healthy nutrition within schools and feels that creating a fun, safe and innovative environment for students to try new foods is essential.

Jennifer is also Project Coordinator for Growing up Organic Prescott Russell, where she provides garden-based workshops to local schools, implementing and facilitating school gardens as well as encouraging farm visits. This past year Jennifer has been actively involved in a procurement project within Prescott Russell and SDG, connecting local organic farmers with schools and seeking funding to support these initiatives.

Gina Dragone is the Food and Agriculture Development Officer for All Things Food and coordinates the Food and Agriculture Advisory Council for Stormont, Dundas, Glengarry, Cornwall, and Akwesasne. Gina has a background in branding and promotions having previously worked on the Canada Brand file at Agriculture Canada for 5 years. She is passionate about building agri-tourism in this region and helping to increase local procurement.

Geneviève holds over 9 years of experience in community economic development in project management and in special events. Since 2015, Geneviève is a senior project officer for the Economic Development and Tourism Department at the United Counties of Prescott and Russell, this in addition to 8 years at The Prescott-Russell Community Development Corporation as a project officer and manager of the Eastern Ontario Development Program.

Her education, a Bachelor’s degree in Organizational Communication at the University of Ottawa and holds a diploma in the Travel and Tourism program at La Cité collégiale.
Genevieve is a mother of two little girls, who occupy the other half of her time!

Lucie is a registered dietitian working at the Eastern Ontario Health Unit in Hawkesbury. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Ottawa University.

She is a member of the College of Dietitians of Ontario, the Ordre professionnelle des diététistes du Québec and of the Ontario Society of Nutrition Professionals in Public Health.

She promotes healthy lifestyles and healthy nutrition in the community by delivering different programs, such as: Baby Best Start, Green Food Box, Supermarket tours, Nutri-Step and others. Lucie is passionate about food and health.

The Eastern Ontario Agri-Food Network is a non-profit organization dedicated to coordinating the development of the agri-food sector in Eastern Ontario and fostering dialogue between its members and partners.
